This publicly built, privately operated hospital was opened on July 26, 1993. The hospital facilities were constructed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The hospital was established with joint investment from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Medical Association. It was operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Hospitals Corporation.Tokyo Metropolitan Hospital Organization is opened on July 1,2022.

Unique features of this hospital

We carry out health care collaboration as a regional medical care support hospital.
We work closely with regional medical institutions in an area spanning five cities in the Minami-Tama region (Hachioji, Machida, Hino, Tama, and Inagi) to provide advanced, suitable health care.
The 1997 revision to the Medical Care Act established the “regional medical care support hospital” system, and Tama-Nambu Chiiki Hospital was approved as this type of hospital on October 9, 1998.

The following are our main roles as a regional medical care support hospital.

  • Sharing the responsibility for health care functionality with regional medical institutions and working closely with them to provide suitable medical care with continuity and consistency according to patient symptoms.
  • Providing support to regional medical institutions (primary care doctors) in the fields of health care, equipment, information, etc.
  • Helping improve and enhance regional medical care.

Areas of focus

  • Emergency medicine (secondary emergency care)
  • Cancer care

All departments include physicians that can provide cancer care (surgery and multidisciplinary chemotherapy).
Radiation therapy, mainly conformal radiotherapy, and hyperthermia are conducted in the Radiation Therapy Division.

Patient Rights Charter

  1. Every patient has the right to fairly receive proper medical treatment.
  2. Every patient has the right to receive medical treatment under a mutual cooperative relationship with healthcare providers and have their personality, sense of values, etc. as a human being respected.
  3. Every patient has the right to receive easy-to-understand explanations about details regarding their condition, process, examination, treatment, etc.
  4. Every patient has the right to voluntarily select the contents of their medical treatment based on sufficient explanations and information, and upon doing so be respected if they wish to receive another doctor’s opinion (second opinion).
  5. Every patient has the right to request the disclosure of their medical information.
  6. Every patient has the right to have all personal information gained during medical exams kept secret, and to not have their private life within the hospital disturbed by other people as much as possible.
  7. Every patient has the right to first receive sufficient explanation and be provided sufficient information, regarding purposes, dangers, etc. when being offered to participate in medical treatment that is still being researched, before deciding whether or not to receive that medical treatment. Additionally, every patient has the right to refuse such medical treatment at any time without suffering any disadvantage whatsoever.
  8. Every patient has the right to receive a referral to an appropriate medical institution, if necessary, in order to receive constant medical care.
  9. Every patient has an obligation to convey information regarding their health, etc. as accurately as possible to healthcare providers.
  10. Every patient has an obligation to obey prescribed rules so that all patients can spend their period of recuperation comfortably.

Patient Rights Charter for Children

Rules that our hospital staff, your family, and you yourself must obey for your benefit.

  1. You can receive good medical care, just like anyone else, no matter what kind of disease you contract.
  2. You can, at all times, be valued as a human being and receive medical care while cooperating with hospital staff and your family.
  3. You can have hospital staff teach you about diseases and how they are cured using words, pictures, etc. that you understand.
  4. You can tell hospital staff and your family about your thoughts and feelings about your disease and how it will be cured after receiving a sufficient explanation.
  5. You can, at any time, talk to and ask family members and hospital staff about things you don’t understand or things you feel uneasy about.
  6. You can spend as much time as possible together with your family while you are hospitalized.
  7. You can study and play while you are hospitalized.
  8. You can decide for yourself, after receiving sufficient explanation, whether to participate in research, such as on how a disease will be cured or whether or not a drug is effective, when being offered to participate in such research. You can also choose to stop participating in such research whenever you feel like stopping. You can, at any time, talk to and ask your family members and hospital staff about things you don’t understand or things you feel uneasy about when making a decision.
  9. In order for your disease to be cured, please be as detailed as possible when telling hospital staff about your body’s condition and how you feel.
    1. Please keep the promises you make with the hospital so that you and everyone else can enjoy their time at the hospital.

Handling of Personal Information

The hospital works to provide safe medical care of the highest quality so patients can feel peace of mind while receiving care.
In addition, the hospital protects patients’ personal information in the following ways according to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

Processing information to be anonymous, disclosing information to third parties

The Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Hospitals Corporation may provide case data to third parties for the purpose of management analysis according to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
In that case, personal information is made anonymous so no individuals can be identified.

Handling of personal information

  1. The patient’s personal information is collected and used for the purposes listed in the following table (including personal information from paper documents).
  2. The patient’s personal information is properly managed and will not be provided to a third party, or used for any purpose other than those in the table below, without the patient’s consent (excluding cases in which the hospital is asked to provide it according to laws and regulations, etc.). If the information must be used for another purpose, the patient will be asked for their consent.
  3. The patient should tell the hospital if they do not consent to their personal information being used for the purposes in the table below. If the patient does not inform the hospital that they do not consent, the personal information will be handled with the understanding that the patient has agreed to this usage.
  4. Please contact the Patient Help Desk for consultations, questions, or other inquiries regarding the handling of personal information.

Disclosure of personal information

According to the hospital’s regulations, medical records and other information will be disclosed to the patient when requested. A fee applies for copying.
