Orthopedic Surgery

(1) Medical Services

Our department provides care through five full-time and two part-time physicians, as well as five affiliated registered physicians.  All physicians are board-certified specialists capable of addressing the full spectrum of orthopedic conditions, including shoulder, hip, knee joint disorders, spine and spinal cord, foot surgery, hand surgery, sports injuries, and rheumatic diseases. We actively admit patients requiring conservative treatment for conditions such as vertebral fractures, rather than surgical intervention. After acute-phase treatment concludes, patients can be transferred to our hospital's Regional Comprehensive Care Ward to receive thorough rehabilitation, aiming for discharge to their homes. Moreover, we set up a Regenerative Medicine Outpatient Clinic (Tuesdays PM) in April 2025 and started providing PRP therapy.

(a)Spinal and Spinal Cord Surgery

Primary surgical procedures include cervical laminoplasty, lumber laminectomy, lumbar disc herniation discectomy, lumbar spinal fusion, and spinal cord tumor resection.

(b) Upper Limb

We treat a wide range of conditions including rotator cuff tears, recurrent shoulder dislocations, shoulder osteoarthritis, and fractures. Our hospital frequently performs arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic labral repair, anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty for osteoarthritis, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty for massive irreparable rotator cuff tears. For cases experiencing postoperative recurrence of recurrent shoulder dislocation, we can address it using the open Bankart repair technique. Additionally, we can treat humeral fractures, clavicular fractures, and complex scapular fractures.

(c) Lower Limb

Our team includes physicians skilled in hip, knee, and foot surgery, performing procedures such as total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA), arthroscopic meniscus repair and resection, arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy, and bunion surgery. For total hip arthroplasty, we employ a minimally invasive (MIS) anterior approach that avoids muscle transection. For total knee arthroplasty in cases of severe deformity, we create patient-specific guides (PSI) for the surgery. In recent years, navigation systems have enabled less invasive total knee arthroplasty procedures.

(d) Regenerative Medicine Outpatient Clinic

We offer a new PRP therapy at our outpatient clinic that uses your own blood to suppress inflammation in joints and other areas. Many patients suffer from persistent pain and inflammation in shoulders, elbows, knees, hips, and other joints. This new treatment option, now available at our hospital, offers hope to such patients. It is a regenerative medicine therapy called “PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy)” that utilizes platelets and white blood cells extracted from the patient's own blood.
Platelets and certain white blood cells in the blood are rich in proteins necessary for tissue repair and inflammation suppression. PRP therapy involves separating and concentrating the patient's blood (approximately 30-60 cc) using specialized equipment to purify a preparation rich in platelets effective for treatment. Injecting this directly into the affected area promotes tissue repair and alleviates inflammation and pain.
