Features of Komagome Hospital

Opened in 1975 as a new addition to the existing Metropolitan Hospital, Komagome Hospital is a designated Highly Specialized Medical Institution which offers advanced therapies for cancer and infectious diseases to all residents of Tokyo. Komagome Hospital also provides the local community with all standard medical services.

1 Cancer treatment

Cancer patients can expect highly advanced treatment at Komagome Hospital, a cancer center with a full array of specialized departments and a central diagnostic division which includes endoscopy, radiology, and pathology. We also promote cross-departmental coordination and multidisciplinary approaches, such as our tumor board (called “cancer board”), to provide each patient with the therapy best suited to their needs.

Komagome Hospital is a Prefectural Cancer Center and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Center designated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. We coordinate with local hospitals and conduct specialist training programs in our role as part of the social infrastructure for the entire prefecture of Tokyo (and the Kanto Koshinetsu region for transplantation).

2 Infectious diseases

The legacy of Komagome Hospital goes back to its establishment in 1879 as a cholera quarantine facility. During our long history, we have accumulated clinical and research experience and knowledge on infectious diseases, which forms one of the two pillars of our medical services, with the other pillar being cancer treatment.

Komagome Hospital is a Type 1 and 2 Infectious Disease Medical Center designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. We are also a designated AIDS Center Hospital engaging actively in the treatment of AIDS.

3. Comprehensive medical platform

Another key feature of Komagome Hospital is our comprehensive medical platform which underpins our highly specialized medical care. With the aging population, we are seeing more patients with various complications. Our platform facilitates interdepartmental coordination to enable the selection and implementation of the treatment program most suited to each of our patients, including patients with difficult diseases who can also rely on the quality and consistency of our care.
