Throughout the more than 130 year history of Matsuzawa Hospital, our Psychiatry Department has been dealing with patients with various symptoms, accumulating expertise about psychiatric care and leading the field in Japan. With emphasis on acute care, we provide outpatient and inpatient care that fits for patients of all ages and all stages of illness.
We provide psychiatric emergency care, alcohol and substance related disorders, dementias in elders as well as mental illness in young people. We also have specialist inpatient wards for people with both mental and physical disorders.
Rehabilitation and day care programmes are also among our priorities. We promote smooth recovery with casework and rehabilitation programmes which start in hospital stay. Psychiatric social workers offer help with practical problems associated with illness.
Although mental disorders such as depression have been increasing in number and attracting public attention in recent years, awareness of these disorders in the community is yet to be raised. We value feelings of patients and family as much as possible and provide care that is reliable, safe and transparent. We also value protecting privacy of patients.
