Department of Psychosomatic Medicine

1. Medical Treatment Details and Features

Our Department of Psychosomatic Medicine treats “Symptoms in the burden of heart is expressed by physical symptoms”. If the physical cause cannot be identified by diagnostic tests or clinical examinations despite physical symptoms, there is a likelihood of “physical symptoms via autonomic nerves” or “spontaneous physical symptoms”. If the symptoms persist and are strong even after physical therapy and adversely affect the daily life, then multi-facet approaches will be required such as psychiatric interview, relationship with the family and adjusting the environment at home, school, etc. Our target is to eliminate these symptoms and prevent recurrence by achieving psychological growth and change through efforts with the patient to understand the message sent from deep down the heart,

2. Main target diseases

  • Eating disorders (loss of appetite due to anorexia or depression, fear about swallowing, functional vomiting, etc.)
  • Psychosomatic disorders (headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, abdominal pain, hyperventilation or frequent urination)
  • Conversion Disorder (Continuing pain, feeling weak, invisibility, etc., even though no apparent abnormalities in medical examination)

At our hospital, as a rule, except in the case of emergency cares at ER we only accept patients based on a referral appointment system.
